ASHLAND - Joy E. Hoffman, age 95, of Westwood-Ashland, Ky., passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family on Sept. 2, 2010.
She was born Feb. 4, 1915, in Elliott County, Ky., a daughter of the late Francis Marion and Flora Belle Green White.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald M. Hoffman in 1986; brothers, Lowell, Larry and Darrell White; and sisters, Ferl Barker and Pauline Ison.
She was former owner of Hoffman's Grocery and a homemaker. She was of a non-denominational faith.
Surviving are a son, Donald Gene Hoffman of Danville, Ky.; a daughter, Linda Sue Franz and husband Bill of Cannonsburg, Ky.; a brother, Coleman White and wife Inez of Elliott County; sisters, Nellie Fields and Faye Fields of Elliott County and Maye Smith and husband Harold of Perryville, Ky.; grandchildren, Beth Ann Lowe of Cannonsburg, Matt Lowe of Quebec, Canada, and Julene Jones and husband Tim of Lexington, Ky.; and great-grandchildren, Kyle Lowe and Derek Lowe.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, 2010 at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland. Private burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010 at the funeral home.
